People's reactions vary-some don't care and some are shocked (I think those people need to take their head out of the sand and look around) and some say "when r u gonna cut it" (they're the ignorant ones). It doesn't matter what anybody thinks whose around u-it only matters what Jesus (God) thinks and I know He's not so shallow as to look at anybody's outward appearance. What He looks at is a person's heart-no body's perfect and we all have messed up hearts and that's why we all need Jesus to fix our hearts.
I just look up to God for His approval and not the approval of peeps around me. In the end, Jesus' approval is what matters.

Besides, all the pictures I've ever seen of Jesus portray a man with long brown shoulder length hair?! Yeah right, like any of us were around back then?! Anyway, what's inside your heart is all that matters and if the man upstairs likes your hair, then why should you ever worry about what anyone else thinks?!

"God created man in his own image, and in doing so, we returned the favor."
I don't remember where I read that, but I've always found it poignant. There is, to my knowledge, no written word in the Bible that describes what Jesus ever looked like.

I think there is, but it's generic, like "good-looking". Of course, just as women look better to guys the drunker they get, guys probably look better the more miracles they perform. What's that? Do I hear thunder?

EXACTLY...and I agree 100%...
BUT how do you handle the 'religious' types who will say things
like quoting from the Scriptures & saying things like:
"It is a shame for a man to have long hair" ?
Personally I believe that the Apostle was referring to certain
lifestyles asscociated with Longhairs back in the 1st Century...
and does NOT apply to today.
nobody here is perfect

Only because u asked:
God desires everybody to know Him through Jesus-this is a spiritual, inner person thing and has nothing to do with your hair or what u wear. When a person becomes a believer in Jesus, they still make mistakes-nobody here is perfect. Believers aren't a perfect reflection of God as I'm sure u know.
Each person is accountable for his or herself before God and must read the Bible on their own-without any preconceived notions. Read Bible verses in context of why they were written and take note of punctuation (there is a question mark at the end of 1 Cor. 11:14 and verse 16 says long hair should not cause divisions). God is about unity in Jesus...not arguments!
Ephesians 2:8-9 sez it's all from God to us-a gift...we cann't do anything but accept the gift. If cutting your hair could make u better than someone else, what Jesus did 2070 years ago means nothing. Fortunately for us, God doesn't consider a person's outward appearance-it's all about what's inside us.

I agree but there ARE actually GOOD Christians out there...
who looked down on ME for my hair (and I also had a beard once)...
Like I was Mary Magdalene!!! They just assume men shouldn't wear
long hair...but they are good people with a strong faith
but BLIND to the UNfairness of putting down Longhairs...go figure.
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that 1970 years ago (33+1970=2003)

I come across that as well. Look at it this way. Aren't there other areas where you are prejudiced? Christians are not perfect, just forgiven, and yet to attain perfection in Christ.

I would think so.

Yes, well that's what I thought. I mean
even if you count from the Birth in probably 4BC (seems odd but
it's those calendar mix-ups again) we would be in 1998 AD which
means the real 2000 year mark is reached in 2004...

You're absolutely right on the math thing-I was using the new math, maybe?
Not sure y Christians who seem right on with everything mess up the hair thing-believers aren't perfect reflections of the Author (God) of the Bible. Don't lose sleep over that-I just shrug my shoulders!
