Blonde vs Black

Does anyone feel that blonde hair looks so much better long than black hair? I'm not exactly sure why, but too me it does. Black hair looks dirtier sometimes (black long hair with a beard is just overkill for me) I guess lighter colors look a bit more attractive, and the natural highlights in blonde hair look more pleasing... who knows. Then there's brown hair which is basically in the middle, nicer than black hair but not as great as blonde. I have black hair, dark brown in certain areas and under certain lights, I would be really interested in finding a way to naturally lighten the hair a bit to a brown color or bringing in some natural highlights (since there is a hint of brown in there) someway. Also, I think you can more easily get away with dry/damaged or "not so nice" looking hair if it's blonde.

I've always liked longer black hair. I used to date a guy that was half Cheyenne, and his hair was one of the best things about him (note the "used to" above).
I wouldn't play around too much with color, especially lightening your hair. Once you damage your hair, there's no undoing it. I think that chemically fried hair looks bad regardless of the color. Healthy, natural color is the way to go.

I have very dark brown hair, I like this color. I think very dark black hair looks great though, like Israeli hair is really cool looking.

I agree. I think people of Middle Eastern descent have amazing hair, not to mention extraordinarily beautiful features in general.
By the way, your hair doesn't look frizzy at all, it looks just fine. You have nothing to worry about in the hair department.

I'd have to say I prefer black hair, as it happens. Especially on Chinese girls.

Color really doesn't matter all that much to me. As long as the hair is clean looking and healthy looking, then the color mother nature has given you will be that much more vibrant. I would stay away from chemicals to lighten or darken for the simple fact that one can go crazy and end up doing alot of damage...although I have indeed seen some chemical induced hair that not only looked pretty good, but also looked clean and healthy.

Yes...it depends on the person. IF you have naturally light or blond hair...
your skin tones will usually match up nicely.
IF you have dark hair and go blond your skin may not go well with it.
I have medium brown hair on my head BUT
my beard contains brown, RED & BLOND! L(.)(.)K out for those RED&BLOND ones...
cause I swear they are thicker and stiffer & tough even tough
they are harder to see.

Did you all know that 96% of the world's population has black hair?
Black hair genes rule in: Africa, Asia, the Middle east, The Pacific Island, South America and southern Europe and in American Indians (real term: Aboriginals).
Non black hair originated in Northern Europe and spread to Olde England and Northern France and Northern Italy during successive invasions of Germanic tribes between 800-1200. British and French colonization of North America and the settling of the British in Australia and other areas also contributed to the spreading of non-black hair.
This difference is especially striking in France where the northern native population is mostly brown & blonde haired, but black in Southern France. I've visited the country of my ancestors several times.
Thanx...

What's more, black and brown is a dominant trait. As are curls...and thinness... Gotta love genetics!

By thinness, are you referring to fine in texture rather than thick hair? If you're not, I'm curious. I have fine hair, thick in density. I hope I don't lose the thick density anytime soon...

Fine, yes. Brow/black, curly/wavy, coarse/thick hair is dominant.

ive also heard that the blond gene is recessive, and within 50 years will be bred out of the worlds population. everyone can still have white hair when they get old though!

Such an assertion shows a misunderstanding of genetics. The genotype is the genetic code of an organism. The phenotype is how these genes are expressed. Barring mutations and evolutionary pressures, the genotype of a population stays pretty constant. Dominance/recessiveness relates to how the phenotype expresses the genotype. Say for example with simple Mendelian genetics that you have a population where half the genes of a trait are dominant and the other half are recessive. If the population starts out with all the recessive genes within one group and all the dominant genes in the rest of the population, what you have is a population where half looks one way and half looks another. However, let some interbreeding occur, and things begin to change. If the breeding proceeds until there is maximum mixing of the genes, then 25% will display the recessive gene and 75% will display the dominant gene.
Given this, the way I see it we have the following scenarios:
* Most people don't prefer blondes, so the blonde genes are removed from the gene pool by a selective evolutionary pressure.
* Most people do prefer blondes, so the blonde genes actually increase among the population.
* Blondes prefer blondes, and non-blondes prefer non-blondes. In this case, we generally stick with the status quo.
* Everyone loves everone else equally (for the purposes of genetics). In this case, what happens is that concentrations of all genes are effectively diluted by being spread among the entire population. There will still be just as high a percentage of blonde genes, but the phenotype will tend to switch toward black hair.
I think the truth is some combination of the last three bullet points.

Some blonde hair looks better, some black hair looks better. Of course, RED is always better!! (ha ha). As far as women go; I'll take a brunnette over a blonde any day -- especially if she has brown eyes.

My paternal grandmother, who was nearly full-blooded Cherokee, once had long, black hair. My Mom's blonde hair was once long, too. Both women were beautiful, and both had beautiful hair. 'Nuff said.
As for lightening your hair, just get out in the sun. It's the best way to get highlights in your hair, although you may end up with auburn, rather than brown, highlights.
I read somewhere that in a few decades, blonde hair will be completely bred out of humans, and no more natural blondes will exist.
(Sheesh. I always figured I'd wind up with a mark on my head. :P)
