I've never used them but I hear they can seriously dry out and damage your hair.

Stay away from them , Most are lye based and very harsh not to mention most lighten but not always "blond" expect anything from white to orange

Anything that lightens your hair contains some type of bleaching agent. Bleaching agents cause damage to your hair. If you want to grow your hair more than 6 inches long you should definitely avoid using it. Absalom

My one experience with sun-in was years ago in my teens and all I remember is having orange straw for hair...lol If you really want to be a blonde...leave it to professionals!!

I find it much easier and less damaging to keep the natural color the Good Lord gave me. I have learned that anything chemical can be damaging to hair. The sun has a natural bleaching effect to hair to begin with. Those type of products have chemicals in them that react to the rays of the sun inhancing the suns bleaching effect, thus speading up and strengthening the already natural process of the suns bleaching abilities.
I work for a furniture store and have seen the bleaching effect that the sun has on dining room table finishes for example. There are decorations in the center of the dining tables and I have seen that when those decorations are removed from time to time from the dining tables in the display windows, there is a dark finish spot where the decoration was sitting, showing how the sun bleached the finish of the rest of the exposed table through the display window. This is what the sun does to our hair. That in itself can be damaging to our hair to some degree. Hope this helps. Peace!

So the moral is : 'If you bleach your hair, don't put a bowl of fruit on your head' !

Do NOT use this!!! Unless you want your hair to feel like straw, break off severely, and turn orange!!! Trust me, I know:(

I used hair lighteners before when I previously grew my hair out and saw nothing wrong with it. I'd say it's a matter of personal opinion. BTW, I include in the term "hair lighteners" going to a salon to get it professionally done, which is what I did years ago.

Used it in my teen years. They may have changed the ingredients by now, but this is what I remember:
Dry, brittle hair. And I got more orange than blonde.
Brings one thing to mind: my mom told me putting lemon juice in your hair and going into the sun tends to lighten it quicker than just sun. Wonder if that is also damaging, with the acidic nature of lemon juice?
