Nightclub Abuse

I meant to tell everyone about this earlier but I was preocuppied last night when I posted and I fogot... Saturday night saw the worst piece of hair abuse I have received so far.
I was out with my mates in small club which had a chatty DJ working the decks from a small station behind the bar. He decided it would be funny to start hassling people at random in the club... Why not? Afterall he had no skills with the mixing deck and his choice of music sucked.
Of course he couldn't pass-up the opportunity to comment on my hair style - which for the purposes of the evening was the classic half-tail. Curiously I wasn't the only person in the club sporting this style another lad, (who I didn't know,) had given it ago though failed miserably through a lack of necessary length.
So not only did I take a hurl of abuse for having a Quote: "stupid haircut" and Quote: "looking rediculous" he then suggested that this other lad was my boyfriend and maybe we should get a room together.
Naturally I returned his comments with the single and quite apt phrase: "Tosser!" And me and my mates promptly drank up and left...
Hmmm... Good Job Mr DJ! You just cleared the pub! You'll be getting your contract renewed won't you...
I can't believe the number of DJ's on this island who actually think they are going to endear themselves to the punters by taking the piss out of them. And they feel secure just because they are the ones with the mike. We're they bullied as children or something?? Why do some people never grow-up.
Of course by standing out and being different - I'm like clay pigeon at 2 feet...

Well, some clubs actually make a name for themselves with stuff like this. You have have seen the movie Coyote Ugly. That movie was based on an actual pub in Manhattan. It's a sister club of my brother's favorite, Hogs and Heifers.
I called my brother up when I saw the movie, because it reminded me of Hogs and Heifers. His response was that the locals laughed at the movie, because contrary to the movie, the staff at Coyote Ugly are actually ugly -- hence it was unrealistic.
Anyway, if you were offended, then I think you need to examine your own self image. If you weren't, then taking your business elsewhere seems like the appropriate response if you don't enjoy such things.
P.S. When I went to Hogs and Heifers the first time, my brother warned me not to ask for a wine or mixed drink. I ignored him and did anyway. The bartender stopped the music, called everyone's attention to me and berated me for my choice of drinks (see the movie if you want to know how she actually did it), suggesting I go to some yuppie bar, etc.

Know exactly what you mean. Which island do you live on? Just curious. Island life is pretty tight on anyone who sticks out from the norm even a little bit isn't it?

The island he lives on is Britain, which has a population of maybe about 50 million! No danger of everyone knowing everyone else, if that's what you had in mind!
BTW, that's where I'm from too, although I've lived in the States for years.
No it isn't

My apologies. I had picked on something that you said previously, so I knew you were a Brit. Then I put 2 and 2 together and made 5!
Silly, really, 'cos I'm British and live in America!

No apology necessary... an easy mistake to make...

Bit of a shock to hear that. I've lived in and been to many countries - never have I come across this! Good choice to just walk out of the place, (me personally, I would have gutted the bastard)!!
It's what you get sometimes for daring to be different, but just think... this would-be DJ will never be able to think outside of his narrow-minded square and will always blindly follow the herds in every way. You, on the other hand, won't. Stand proud!

I think if it were me, I'd have a word with the management of the establishment and remind them that insulting one's clients isn't good for business.

Most, if not all of the proper DJs in the UK either have or had long hair. You can almost garantee getting no hassle at a proper rave.
