Being told repetitively to cut it

Hi,
I go to a one-year long training course to work in printing. Normally I should end this December. But the rules of that school stipulates that I have to have my hair a reasonable length.
Some guys have been expulsed for keeping long hair. But I need that training. What should I do? I have the will to fight, but this might make me get into a judicial case which involves lots of money.
Do you think that I might refer my case to the "National Human Rights Commission" of my country?

NO- its hair! get your training, get a great job,,,,then grow your hair. Don't make it more then it is. Life is WAY more then the length of your hair, a person is judged on many things don't let the length of hair be a reason to fail.
You'll grow it out again!

I was thinking of the same thing, but then, what happens if afterwards my eventual employer asks me to cut it.
It`ll be an infernal vicious circle.

I don't know where your country is, but if it's in the EU, then you ought to be protected under the human rights convention, the self expression clause (article 10?). I am not a lawyer, but keep your freak flag flying!
It takes about 3 years to grow hair out completely from a short style. That is why I am never impressed by "You'll grow it out again". Life is too short to let other people run it for you.

You could put it in a bun and wear it in a hat, a lot of males do this when there is a requirment about hair length

By chance.........are there any Women there, and if so how long is their hair?
Rather "vague" is the statement "reasonable length." What's that?
Wish I had an idea for you involving the "Legals." Since they don't state a certain length, you might just have a case.........but beware of many a Lawyer out there just ready to make himself richer.
Good Luck.

I didn't know if you meant printing press w/ a lot of machines. I work in the insurance industry and most of the time companies are trying to lower the their liability exposures. We all heard about the long hair roller coaster operator who was snatched up by his hair getting caught....just a thought.

So then it's not a safety issue. It's a bigotry issue.
In California the Unruh Act would prohibit the harassment you are being subjected to. You have not mentioned what jurisdiction you are in, so no one here can offer specific advice concerning it. Legal advice tends to be very much variant on the locale, particularly in an area of transition, which is where civil rights for longhairs is at. Tell us where you are, and maybe someone can offer more specific advice.

Thanks, but I`m not in the US or UK.
I live in a remote place called Mauritius Island in the Indian Ocean.
It`s near to the US military base Diego Garcia.

You are in a Commonwealth country though, and one with a lot of cultural diversity. That should work in your favor. In such a small place the courts probably look to other common law nations' courts for guidance when it comes to issues not yet confronted locally. So what has happened in the UK and US could very well be relevant.
Good luck!
