Split-ender

Numerous months back there was a thread about the split-ender, weither it was useful or not. Back then I didn't want to trust my hair to a hair-cutting machine. But am not so sure anymore, anyone had any experience with it since it was brought up last time?

I found these links on Google when I typed in "does the split-ender work?". The second link even has a video of an average person using it, not some actor who is being paid to look impressed.

I don't know why, but I am still kind of skeptical about that thing. It looks like your hair could get caught in something, resulting in even more damage to your hair. The prices for those things are also kind of expensive. However, the whole concept behind that product IS really interesting.
I have seen those at Walgreen's, you could always buy one from there and try it out. If it doesn't work, then you could just return it and get your money back. Also, from what I have observed, it only works on people who have somewhat straight/wavy hair. People with really curly/frizzy hair have reported that it does nothing for them, just a little FYI.
Get it and be the guinea pig for us! Hehehehe

I agree, that was my initial thought as well. However they do guarantee that such problems should not occure on the website. So I would imagine that if people experienced this, there would be a lot of lawsuits. After all, a product that might cause the opposit results than advertised can't get good feeback... You could also wonder about the functionality of the split-ender after several years of use...

Unfortunately they are not sold in stores here in Sweden (at least not what I've seen), so I have to order it.

I am strongly considering it. If it gives a fraction of the results in the infomercial, it would probably be worth it.

The company says not to go over the same spot more than once. This would mean that it keeps trimming regardless of split ends and leaves it up to you to experiment to get it right (after hacking up your hair?). Haven't heard a peep about it besides what comes from the company that sells it.

After reading and reading, and reading trying to find good information. I've noticed that some sources states it only cuts the split ends, and leaves the non-splited ones alone. While other sources states what you just said, that it pretty much cuts 1/8 of an inch of every strand.
Regardless, 1/8 of an inch isn't even a week worth of growth. And even though it doesn't feel good cutting even the smallest part. It's probably worth it, assuming it makes the hair look a lot better.
One of their selling points is basically that the user can't from missuse cause damage. One would hope there is some truth in that...
But I agree, is it really worth risking your hair? That is why I posted this question. Wanted oppinions from someone using it, and not payed to say what the company wants them to say.

The URLs Max wrote are beneficial, but I would also like more information on it...
Looking at the video clips, both infomercial, and the one in Max's URL, the amount of ends doesn't look like even close to the amunt it should, if cutting every single strand, but I don't know...
I will probably give it a try... You have to take some chances from time to time, even though they are scary... ;)
It's expensive, so can't be total junk... ;)
it really works

have the split ender and it actually works. It snips the slightest amount of hair off and you do notice a big difference in the way your ends feel. You don't even notice a change in length because it only takes a tiny amount off of the ends. I definately recommend buying it.

I want this product because it looks like it really does cut the little split and damage hair. But i'm scared that it might just cut hair that is not damage and that is only growing (baby hair). I dont want it to cut my good hair. My hair is very lond and i want to keep it that what but i have a lot of split ends. My hair is long and it's between striaght and wavy. But it is more straight then anything. I also want to know what stores have this product. Please write back.

You can find this product for around $30....with $10 shipping on Ebay. Has anyone actually tried it??? I'm just afraid that it's going to make my already baby fine hair even thinner.

I probably won't ever visit this site again, but I wanted to respond to you Jess- I have been thinking about buying this thing too, and I am trying to grow my hair long. What will happen if you use the Split-ender every three or four weeks, like they say, is that your hair will never get any longer. BUT, what I would do is use it more like every couple of months. If you use it once, and then keep your hair moisturized, the hair won't split as often or fast. But if you don't use it at all, the split ends can keep splitting farther up the follicle and end up wrecking your hair anyway. I want to get it and use it so I can stop the split ends I have now, and not have to rip a brush through my hair, which damages it just as much.

hi everyone
a product like this would seem to be a dream come true. to keep up my ends i have to cut off 5 inches every 6 mo nths. i used to have my hair down to my butt but now its about 5 inches above. well i would like for this thing to work, and many say they do
but i think i would prefer the expertise of a salon person
well i foudn this website, it has a video where they give it to a salon guy and he tries it out.
you have to register, but its easy. if you don't want to register, they give it a thumbs down. cutting off split ends before the end is idiotic, and cutting off only 1/8th of an inch isnt eonugh. he says in the end this could make ur hair worse. also, he ran it through all of the girls hair, and when he opened the thing up there was barely any hair in it. not like on the commercial, where there is all kinds of hair.
overall they gave it a thumbs down. if it was $5 i wouldnt even buy it, it seems to do more worse than good. maybe in a few years something better will come along.
i also wonder what the blade life is

Just ordered it, might have been a stupid thing, but I will let you all know the results once I've tested it...
