I am relativly young in my life (aka not out of the High School). Is it a good idea for me to grow long hair.

Anytime is as good as any, as long as its what YOU like and what YOU want.

I'm only 13 and I'm groin' my hair out!! OH YEAH!! I've only been growing it for about 3 months now, but it's a little over 4 inches long. I've always wanted to grow my hair out, ever since I was about 5 or 6. My mom was always like, "Not until you're older!" And apparently, I'm older now. So, I think I'm going to grow it out a little past my shoulders.
Anywho, don't worry about what anyone says. Do what you want and what you feel you should do. That's what I am doing, and it works for me!

I started my junior year, and really I wish I had started much sooner. Just don't let people discourage you about it, people will be ignorant about it - I guarantee it, but it wont be anyone worth knowing anyways :) My friends never cared, or said anything bad about it. After about a year my friends were actually saying it looked better long. Like crystallizedfate said - if you want it, do it

Definately grow your hair long.
Hair grows faster in adolescence, so take advantage while you have it.
I started growing my hair when I was 17 and a half. I'm now 19 and a half, and I'm quite pleased with what I've gained. It's not as long as it should be though. I've learnt the hard way. I got it thinned and trimmed 6 months into growing it, not really knowing how hair worked then. Another 6 months I started getting the length trimmed every so often to try and get rid of the layers that thinning and trimming made, so if you decide to grow you hair, I suggest getting the length trimmed 1cm annually, eat well, use conditioner and comb it carefully if wet.

Why not? If it makes you happy, go for it!
My 23 year old son grew his hair long in high school, btw, and it was a very nice length when he had his senior picture taken.

Definately! You don't have some boss telling you cut it or he'll have to cut you off the payroll. I wish my parents had let me do this when I was in high school. The military does not like it too much. They say it makes you have lice. Rocks, its like saying landfills cause flies. Oh, well.

That's very amusing, considering that the required hairstyle in the British army in the latter 18th century and very early 19th, was the queue, which fell, at the very least, just past the shoulders. How things have changed.....and not necessarily for the better, either.

A quick answer to a quick question.
Yes, if you want to.
Longer answer - be prepared to put up with idiots who can't cope with your decision not to follow the brainless masses. If you need support, this board is a great place to start.
I first grew my hair at 14 years old - still growing now at nearly 49. Good luck.

I'm not a fan of ever waiting to get what we want out of life. None of us, not me, and not you, really knows how much time we have left. You've got to live life while you're alive!

Sure...........why not if this is what you want. It's all up to you. If you like it........go for it! (Later if you don't like it, all can be removed in minutes.) Certainly a guy with Long Hair is absolutely no threat to the world. A very harmless thing to want to achieve......and it makes so many of us extremely happy, especially if we are cut-out to be Longhairs to begin with. (That voice inside will let you know.) Good Luck in whatever you decide.

I realized I wanted a change when I realized that every guy in the class has exactly the same hair cut except in different colors. I just didn't know if it was couth to grow your hair when you are young.

Sure. Why not.
I had hair down to my middle back when I conformed. Cut it all off. That was fifth grade :D
Maybe it's different cause I hardly know what it's like without long hair. But's a lot easier to decide to have short hair than long hair. So if you change your mind, don't have the patience or will anymore... snip snip.
I made that mistake once, but don't think I will for a while more yet. I saw the error of my ways, I've been growing my hair out again for 6 years.
So, except for that first year or so (which sucked for me. %!@(^* hair wouldn't do what it was supposed to), it's good. Be prepared for some people to treat you a bit different. Whether that'll bother you, or that's what your going for, is up to you.
Mr. Lowe

Heck yeah man! I'm a Junior in high school and I started growin' my hair a little over a year ago. Beware though: most people look down on us "Long-Hairs". Don't let that get you down! Those people don't realize what it's like to have long hair and have no clue about how much self-discipline it takes to have long hair. -And as sissy as it may seem, chics know how to take care of hair- so use their advice (minus the tip on chopping it off ;) )
Happy growing!
